Non-Linear Navigation

Method: design content as a system, not a single narrative. Let readers scan, click, and jump to what they need.

Path finder: what do you want to do?

Instead of one fixed reading order, readers pick their goal and get a route built for them. Try it:

๐ŸŒฑ Understand the basics ๐Ÿ›  Complete a task now ๐Ÿงฏ Fix a problem ๐ŸŽ“ Train my team ๐Ÿ’ผ Convince a buyer ๐Ÿ’ป Integrate via API

Type what you're looking for; results update as you type.

Write for scanning

  • Use descriptive headings that answer "is this the part I need?"
  • Put the key point first in each section.
  • Keep paragraphs short; use lists and tables for comparable items.
  • Add an "On this page" block, like the one at the top, to long topics.

Every topic should work on its own and point to related topics. In ClickHelp, cross-reference links, anchor links (like the ones at the top of this page), breadcrumbs, and the TOC let readers move sideways instead of only forward.
